Calyx is eight years old and is one of the most self-motivated students I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He has been taking piano lessons consistently with me for three years. He is eager, incredibly smart, polite, and always applies what he learns in his lessons. As his teacher, I try to help him become a better musician, but the truth is that the student is the one who must do 90% of the work, outside of his or her lessons. Calyx is a great example of this, and a steady reminder of why I love teaching.
